I tie one similar to this, but use a few turns of wire to add some weight. I add just enough to have it sink just below the surface.

That 1st rod and reel bought back 7 years ago and i still have it i did upgrade the rod and its my go to fly rod as it was my 1st fly rod and reel i have now 5 rods and reels

I make a crawdad pattern on a 60 degree jig hook with a tungsten bead out of nothing but a pheasant skin it can be stripped on 4/5 WT fly rod or dead drift it under a bobber on ultralight spinning gear. Look for it on Gunnar Bramers UA-cam channel.

Little tip when putting your dubbing on don't go back and forth. Go in one direction and it'll stay on the thread better.

Hell yeah i gotta make one. I use spinning, fly and centerpin and have used this or anjig similar for all three and its great. Ive always put down a thicker chenille first and was curious if anyone did one like this.

I just bought a 9' 5wt first fly rod and watching this video is kid of making me regret my decision. But one thing i had in mind is to go upstate n.y to fish for salmon so idk if i made the right decision?

For a fly reel I can order one from Amazon for 30 bucks if anything go wrong with my fly reel one day shipping. I put more money into spinning reel or baitcaster reel from Japan

There is no substitute for a high end reel ($500+). You get on a big fish or really any fish in the tropics and you’ll appreciate it. My first trip to the BVI I had a sub $200 reel and the first fish I hooked the drag was smoked. Some times you have to spend the money. Cheap Chinese made reels are a waste of money if you’re planning on them doing more than holding your line.

Love my 4wt 2000 Powell..light, easy, fun..agreed...it gets more use then my Loomis 5wt

Por puro capricho y/o por moda,no hay más motivo real más allá del gusto personal del pescador. Las cañas de bambú son más pesadas,más lentas y suelen estar torcidas,nada que imposibilite su uso para pescar pero el carbono e incluso la fibra de vidrio tienen claras ventajas. Sobre todo el precio prohibitivo de una caña de bambú refundido. No hay color.

The poor guy in the video missed a guide when lining his rod. We as "guides" or advocates of the sport must ensure the people we're teaching don't inadvertently/ accidentally destroy their gear due to something so simply overlooked...

I prefer bamboo rods about 7 feet long or less. For shorter rods, I feel most comfortable with bamboo rods.
